What is a Try On?
Online retailers and some Pre-owned and Vintage sites allow a Bride to try on and then return a gown. You can have your Wedding Dress shipped to our studio for your Try-On. We will have the dress ready for you to try on and decide knowing what your alterations or restyling costs will be.
How much do Alterations cost?
Most Bridal shops in the city charge a flat rate of $350 - $750. We itemize and charge only for the amount of work needed, so if your gown was ordered in your size it will average between $350 and $550. Fitting samples that are not close to your size or adding design changes may push the cost to the high end of that range or above.
When should I start my fittings?
For alterations we prefer to have 6 - 12 weeks so we can deliver the finished gown two to four weeks before the wedding to allow for last minute changes and cleaning.
For In-home fittings we need 4 - 6 months. For Mens Suits, Bridesmaids and party dresses we need 2 - 3 weeks.
Can you do a rush order? Is there a rush charge?
We specialize in last minute alterations. We can do a wedding gown in a week if you are available for 3 fittings. We reserve the right to assign a rush charge for any dress needed in 4 weeks or less
Do In-Home fittings cost more than coming to the studio? Is there a minimum?
There is no minimum for in-home fittings but we do need more time, 4 - 6 months, and flexibility in scheduling fittings. We see In-home clients tuesday and friday evenings and Sunday mornings. We will add more days closer to the June busy season.
Should I have my sample gown cleaned before starting alterations?
It is best to do the alterations first then have the dress cleaned and pressed so it will be at its freshest for your wedding.
Do you clean the dress?
We offer Green Local Cleaning and Preservation. We can also have your sample dress cleaned before the wedding. We can hand press some dresses or refer you for professional pressing.
